Currently, I am pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Brown University. Before beginning my graduate studies, I worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Intel. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Physics from Caltech ('02).

Through my research at Brown I hope to develop advanced methods for computer vision, graphics, and machine learning. Current research topics include computational photography, 3D reconstruction, catadioptric systems, and visual sensor networks.

First of all, thank you for the code but, while using with mat lab 7.0 , i am getting errors
as

??? Error: File: Z:\Bilateral Filtering\bfilter2.m Line: 29 Column: 1
Function definitions are not permitted at the prompt or in scripts.

Error in ==> runDemo at 30
bflt_img1 = bfilter2(img1,w,sigma);

please tell me how to use your code?

I have also noticed the error in the first derivative of the Gaussian at line 108.

For your second question, I think that a Gaussian smoothing helps as a preprocessing step to remove noise.

It is a nice model of Sound Level Meter. My observation is: In the code, A-weighting is performed in frequency domain (i.e. multiplication in frequency domain). I feel like, if the A-weighting is in time domain (filtering, of input signal which is sampled at variable sampling frequency), the computation of fft can be saved.
