This is an excellent algorithm... I have a quick question. Is this algorithm affected by noise in the image? Will it make sense to denoise image before doing image registration?

Performance of the algorithm will depend on the sigma estimation in noisy image. How to estimate good sigma?

Algorithm seems to work really well for SNR < 15 where SNR = mean/std(noise). For higher SNR it seems to smooth out features. Explaination may be useful.
