Nice file, but there are a few important issues:
1 - as mentioned in other comments, the output argument is not assigned (I would suggest an output H=1/0 to indicate whether the null-hypothesis is rejected/not-rejected, to make the function similar in use to e.g. kstest, and an optional second output with the p-value)
2 - the output argument has the exact same name as the function itself...
3 - for moderate and large sample size, the test statistic's value becomes Inf (because it takes log(0) in line 136). Subsequent calculations have no meaning...
4 - in line 127, it is supposed to test for sample size n smaller than or equal 7 (as per line 128), but it actually tests for n smaller than 7
5 - on line 147 it says "else (AD2a \leq 0.600 && AD2a \seq 13);". This does not work, it should probably be an 'elseif' statement instead of 'else'. Moreover, values larger than 13 are not covered (that also goes for Inf...).
6 - line 160 "The sampled population is normally distributed": a hypothesis cannot be confirmed.
7 - line 162 should probably be "... may have been drawn ..."

Hi Ruth,

Suppose we have two samples, s1 and s2, of unequal size n1 and n2, respectively. That is, s1 is 1-by-n1 or n1-by-1 and similar for s2.
Then you could simply do the following:

singlebox(s1);
singlebox(s2);

The function automatically adds the second box to the current axes. You could also pass in a handle to an axes system if necessary.

p.s. Note that Matlab's own boxplot-function can also handle unequal sample sizes: Just insert NaN for "missing" values.

I like the fact that the function shows (and returns) the indizes of the outliers.

Suggestions for improvements:
- adjustable whisker size (now hardcoded to the boxplot standard of 1.5 - at least this fact should be documented)
- better display of outlier indizes - in the current version, numbers overlap and or thus often unreadable
