This program works well for the example given but when I plot a NACA 65016 their is an obvious discontinuity at the point of max camber. I believe the equations used are correct, but I'm not exactly sure how the k1 constant is obtained. Either way I believe the z-values at the point of max camber are wrong.

Thanks for your code. From the introduction I know it is a very nice code. But why I cannot run it? I downloaded and extracted get same files as shown in the web. Then I ran matlab code: Potential_Flow_Simulator, chose the airfoil and simulation. But matlab gave me warnning. What's wrong with my step? Could you please tell me? Thanks

The Hess-Smith panel method is implimented in this code, It has been validated with Hess code.

Every theory has its own limitation, thus the results of this code (Hess-Smith's algorithm) will not perfectly match with experimental or other results.

comparing the results with :(Theory of wing section-Ira.H.Abbott)(naca report no.411/452-Theodore theodorsen1931/1940)(nasa.tm.no4741)(professor Richard.L.Fearn code)(Rhinoceros-design foil code),man can find that u have to check again please.

Leading edge radius, trailing edge cusp angle, camber line distribution, maximum camber & its location, and maximum thickness & its location, which are the important technical features of airfoils,if and only if,they are displayed correctly .

please please please always check Ira.H.Abbott and the others,
aerodynamics for engineering students is nice ,but will always give u this cp error and as a result ,wrong aero forces .

very nice hard work u did here mr divahar ,im sorry to say this, but why the numbers on graph are not the same as excat numbers in the famous references, the errors are huge ,will not allow u to compute the pressure distribution over this wrong contour ,and im sorry for asking , why the name is analyzer ,what exactly do u analyze here ,as long as u have the exact coordinates listed in ur file library !! good gui u have here ,good luck .

Minor suggestions:

Making the program more general, in order to plot XYZ with different lengths,

Selectable transparency of planes,

While adjusting x,y,z plane position, the coordinate values should be visible, for reference.

Anyway, this has saved me lots of work ;)

Thank you, this is a very nice tool. Simple yes, no help yes, but it does what it is supposed and needed it to do (and it saved me the time to write it myself). One thing though, 2 of my variables were relatively small 1e-11 and 1e-6 and the sliders didn't work for me. So my quick and dirty suggestions is to make sure that you scale your variable in such case.

Thank you very much, I can understand the rotatation convention now. In class I couldn't "see" the rotations because of the 2-D ambiguity of the 3-D axis diagram.

This is a really cool utility, but it still needs a little work.

It didn't load the example file at first because it was assumed that my directories were delimited by a "\", where they are in fact delimited by "/". I agree, data should be passed as function arguments if only for portability.

It would also be nice not to be constrained to stay in the directory containing Visualization_4d.m to even close the window.

Nice visualization. However, I am not sure why you do not allow repeated rotations. In moving axes of rotations (sometimes called "general convention") it is common to rotate about z, then x, then z again.
