I found better results by resizing my image before the processing began. This allowed the mosaic images to be better displayed when zoomed in. The resulting jpg was large (about 20mb), but not a problem for a modern machine.
It could probably be better optimized based on image.

All apps require R2012b for easy install. However, you should be able to grab the GUI files (m-files and .fig files) by using a zip utility to open the package.

This is a pretty cool demo. You could utilize parallel computing to speed it up and use more than 10 runs in a reasonable amount of time since Monte Carlo achieves better results with more runs.
