A good alternative is SIM2LAB Blockset (www.sim2lab.com), that enables you to generate C-code for dsPIC microcontrollers, starting from Simulink. You can also create your own GUI (Graphical User Interface) with knobs, gauges, LEDs, LCDs, etc.. for data logging/monitoring, as well as change on the fly the software parameters.

The Microchip Device Blocksets for MATLAB Simulink provide a set of interface-compliant configuration and run-time peripheral blocks for the dsPIC30 and dsPIC33 DSCs.
Complete applications can be created in the form of a MATLAB/SIMULINK model using blocksets provided by Microchip and Simulink. C code for the application will be generated. These blocksets are compatible with the MATLAB plug-in available in MPLAB IDE.
Also provided are many examples in the form of demo models, including a complete BLDC motor control application. It integrates seamlessly with MPLAB IDE of Microchip
