This supplement is designed as a companion to the main text book, ModernControl Systems by Richard C. Dorf and Robert H. Bishop. The primary objectiveof this supplement is to strengthen the design emphasis by introducinga selected set of solved design problems. Each chapter focuses on onedesign problem adapted from the main text book. The problems are selectedfrom a wide range of fields. In addition to the design problems, somechapters also include example problems that illustrate important pointsand concepts. Rather than focusing only on the design issues of specificdesign problems, this supplement is based on the concept of a design process.MATLAB and Simulink are used throughout the supplement as a tool for teachingthe design process.
