If you are using the multi-objective GA function (GAMULTIOBJ) it has a crowding model implementation (see the option DistanceMeasureFcn) that can be useful. You can use this function to optimize one or more objectives (no nonlinear constraint support yet).&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
In general, I like crowding model over niching because you don't have to know 'niche count'. &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
