&lt;br&gt;
I am trying to add the matrices of different dimension together,  ex&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
a(:,:,1)= &lt;br&gt;
1 2 3&lt;br&gt;
4 5 6&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
a(:,:,2) = &lt;br&gt;
0 0 0&lt;br&gt;
0 0 1&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
a(:,:,3) = &lt;br&gt;
1 0 0&lt;br&gt;
0 0 0&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
some function later gives&lt;br&gt;
b =&lt;br&gt;
2 2 3&lt;br&gt;
4 5 7 &lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
what is the most efficient way of doing this?&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
