on top of all the very good suggestions to keep the contest 
engaging and minimally frustrating for everyone I would 
also suggest reviving some form of generality prize at the 
end of the contest to keep the interest of those developing 
non-overfitting solutions and alternative algorithm 
strategies alive

That said it has been lots of fun, congrats to the matlab 
team for their good work!
