I know that the Mathworks team is probably working hard at the moment to solve this issue, but this is just one among many annoying issues. I have to say that the overall user experience of Matlab on the Mac OS X platform is rather poor. This is in no way meant to be harsh critic, I just hope that the company is aware that a large number of potential users avoid Matlab (and use C++ with gsl or Octave) on OS X because of this.
