Greetings,

Recently, I have acquired a workstation with the following specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (5.2, Build 3790) Service Pack 1 (3790.srv03_sp1_rtm.050324-1447)
           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
       System Model: HP xw8600 Workstation
               BIOS: Default System BIOS
          Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) III Xeon processor (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
             Memory: 4096MB RAM

I have installed matlab R2007b (version 7.5 - August 2007).

I tested the workstation with some matlab code and the results were a bit disappointing. The performance of the workstation was 60% slower than that for the same code on the same matlab version but on an hp laptop with T2500 2.0 GHz processor.

It seems this has been observed by others. A thread on this can be found at:

http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/view_thread/173668

Did anyone else experience this?
How to get the expected matlab performance from the workstation?

I appreciate your input.

Best regards, Sakhr.
