There are some different driver packages available from AVT:

- The FirePackage (always recommended): This replaces the 1394 interface card driver, causing the CMU diiver (and the other drivers from AVT) to fail. If you have installed that one you should use the "Install or remove 1394 driver" utility, uncheck all interfaces, enable the "install MS driver for others" box BEFORE installing the CMU driver. At this moment the FirePackage can't be used with Matlab imaq

- The ActiveFirePackage / DirectfirePackage are DirectShow (or 'winvideo') compatible drivers. With the ActiveFirePackage you'll get some trouble with multi camera applications, but on the other hand it is the best choice if you are using the interlaced Guppy cameras. If DirectShow and multicamera is interesting you should use the DirectFirePackage - the only problem here is that there is no 1394b support.

- 1394b support: You know that if you want to use 1394b cameras you have to replace the 1394 interface card driver: That one coming with XP SP1 is working. There is also one from AVT [working with AVT cameras only!] that can be used with XP and Vista.

best wishes,
