It's disappointing that this is how you (and presumably other MATLAB users) feel. We made a huge shift from focusing on new features to focusing on quality starting right after the release of R14. We had several releases that were mostly bug fixes (sp1, sp2, sp3), only starting to bring in features once we felt bugs were under control. We continue to have a very high focus on quality, both on improving the quality of the existing product and ensuring that new features are introduced with high quality.

As always, it's what you all experience as you use the products in the real world to do real work that counts, so we take input like this very seriously. I'm very interested in hearing reactions from the community.
