Just to give some additional info: I experienced the same problems installing 2009b on Windows 7. Disabling the LAN adapter solved the problem, installation went fine. Matlab wouldn't start with the LAN adapter enabled again, but when I closed down my VPN connection it did. So the bug (whichever it is) might have to do with VPN?
