i'm currently running a 2007b version and, therefore, cannot check what could(!) have happened:
it is possible that newer ML versions rely on (very fast) .net1+ system functions (for folder/file listings), which may(!) implement a different wildcard behavior...

again, just a thought... have to check this later...
