I have a long process that runs slowly and I'm trying to capture figures into an avi movie to review later. This works, but I have found that if I dare go to a different unix desktop to get some other work done, the frames come out black.

Mathworks had some workarounds posted involving AVIFILE and ADDFRAME, but the help says these are going away and to use VideoWriter instead. Thing is, videowriter seems to rely on getframe, which puts me back to square one.

Anyone know a way to capture figures without having to have them flash on someone's screen?
