Subject: fail to import any ABF files generated by pclamp 10.0

Hello,

we are using the clampex software (part of the pclamp package,
molecular devices, formerly axon instruments) to aquire
electrophysiological data. We have recently upgraded to pclamp 10.0.
Before that I used the function import_abf, that I found in the file
exchange directory of the mathwork internet site, to import the data
recorded in the abf format into matlab. although I had problems with
some files, it worked generally fine for abf-files from pclamp up to
pclamp 9. however, the new abf files cannot be opened, neither by
import_abf nor by abfload; and what is even worse: even after I have
exported the data in clampfit to the old format "pclamp9 abf
(integer)", all values read by import_abf are either 0 or -Infinity!

Has anyone scripts that are able to handle the new abf-type or a clue
what needs to be changed in the available import routines to make
them compatible with the new abf-types??

I tried myself to find out what goes wrong in the import functions,
but I am kind of lost!!

Cheers,
Jan

I recently spent quite a bit of time recovering some ability to import ABF files into MATLAB. It's not perfect and has not been extensively tested, but the fruits of my labor are on the File Exchange site. Search for "import_abf" or visit this address:

A new post of the File Exchange now includes support for
importing ABF files including version 10.

Support is included also for other dilr formats:
ABF Molecular Devices Inc (Axon Instruments)
CFS Cambridge Electronic Design
MAP Alpha Omega
NEX Nex Technologies
PLX Plexon Instruments
SMR/SON Cambridge Electronic Design

The post can be found at:
