I need Matlab and Simulink for a universiry project. Our profs told us
about the possibility to get a "Student Version" from MathWorks.
MathWorks still sell both the "old" R14 and the "new" R2007a Student
Version.

Now I have some questions:

- What are the differences between these two student versions? Only
the basic Matlab/Simulink differences mentioned on the MathWorks
homepage or are there new features in the R2007a student release?

- Is it still not possible to update a R14 Student Version to a R2007a
Student Version?

- I found out that our local bookstore has a R14 Student Edition (they
even have a R12 Student Version in their shelves) as I need it in the
next week, but the bookstore does not want to give me a discount (as
it is "deprecated"). How lonk does shipment by MathWorks usually take?
Would you go for the R14 from the bookstore or order at MathWorks and
wait?

Thanks in advance, greetings from Germany,
-Jens

Why don't you email Mathworks directly?

Hope this helps.

Jens,
I would recommend getting the R2007a release, which includes 7
additional add-on products bundled with Student Version. You can get
it through a bookstore (as you mention), directly from publishers
Pearson (www.pearson.co.uk) or online through AskNet in Germany , or
through The MathWorks web site, which may be the slowest option of
these options.

Jens, I ordered R2007a last week. The order took 2 days. I ordered
it Tuesday 5PM and got it thursday afternoon.

So, very fast. As the last poster said, R2007a have more toolbox in
the package for the same price, so don't hesitate.

Philippe

p.s. sorry for last post, got problems with word verification.
