Subject: idiom for calculating the max(some_struct(:).some_field)?

Hello,

I'm new to matlab and I'm working with some structs. I have had to compute the max value for some field of an array of structs. I haven't figured out how to do this without writing a helper function (that creates a temp array of all the values and then computes the max of this).

I tried max(struct(:).field) but it failed.

Is there some way to do this inline without having to drag around a helper function all the time? Or is there some global space I can put my helper function so that I don't need to copy it all the time?

max([struct.field]) or: max([struct(:).field])
