8 out of 21 threads I see since midnight last night begin w/ reply, not
the original post. Is this an artifact of the TMW portal change that
was discussed some a few days ago, perhaps?

Agreed. Lots of posts, presumably made with the new interface, are not
making their way to my ISP's news server.

Yes. I just noticed at least one (subject:
interpolation) that did not make it to mine.

Things appear to be in a bit of disarray. I use google groups to read
and post to c.ss.m and have noticed a few posts missing such that
replies no longer make sense!

This is a major reason why you need to allow
quotes from previous posts.

Their new newsreader does not do so, at least
not without effort on the part of the responder.
And without some quoted material to put it into
context, a response is just an isolated sentence
fragment that makes no sense at all.

I've been trying to convince them to encourage
quotes. Without them I now use a different
newsreader.

Yes, we do understand the need and are working on
implementation.

Thanks to all for the feedback!
