This is another quick update to let you all know that we
have just completed an update to our Newsreader
application. Many fixes were included in this release but
key features that you may be interested in include:
- Wrapping lines in messages! If you are using an older
client to read postings, they should now be wrapping.
- Truncating long poster names on the home page. Sometimes
long names have been bumping into the tag column. We've
truncated the names with ... (ellipsis). To see the whole
name, just hover over the truncated name.
- Searching by subject. If you go to the Advanced search
page, there is a new field which allows you to search just
message subject fields. If you use advanced directives to
execute searches from the home page, the advanced directive
is subject: . (I've added this to the FAQ at http://matlabwiki.mathworks.com/Using_Newsreader_and_Tagging
)
I hope these updates enhance your use of this application.
My sincere thanks to each of you who have shared your
thought and feedback with us. A great big thanks also goes
to each of you who has contributed to our collection of 768
tags! Keep up the great work!

Helen,
Thanks for all your work and providing us a nice environment
to discuss and study from each other.

Thank you for the work and this update to the newsgroup!

A very useful feature. Note a small bug: the tooltip (seen
during mouse hover) looks ok in IE but not in FF, since the
long name doesn't auto-wrap in FF, and the excess is
displayed outside the tooltip borders - this should be a
relatively simple JavaScript fix.
