hi,
i am applying 2 center GMM to my dataset. before doing
this, i normalize my data. is this (normalizing data before
applying GMM) a contradiction to what i am doing? but at
the end of the day i am getting good results which i can't
explain.

thanks
salih

If you are normalizing your entire data set (i.e., ensuring that the mean
and variance of the entire data set are 0 and 1, respectively), then there
is be no "contradiction". The distributions or clusters in the data will be
unchanged by the normalization, so the gaussian mixture estimation will work
just as well.
