hi,
I am trying to solve a problem and want the advice in
this regard.
A winch when generates a torque which ramps up from zero
at the moment it is turned on to 500 Nm after 2 seconds
which then remains constant. The winch drum is 1 m diameter
is connected to a load of 970 N via 30 m of synthetic
rope, which can be assumed to be weightless. The 30 m
lenght of rope has a stiffness of 50000N/m.

The model should stimulate the vertical motion of the mass
during the 4 seconds after the winch is turned on.you may
ignoe the change in the stiffnessof the rope caused by its
shortening as it is wound by the winch. You may aaume that
the rotary inertia of the winch motor, drum unit is 5 kgm2.

Did you get any replies to your question?

I also have a similar problem.

Thanks

Mike

It's a bit of a cheat ignoring the variable stiffness of
the rope though.

It's also a bit of a cheat begging here for homework
answers.
