i have a fresh installation of r2007b that won't run. when i
tell matlab.exe to run, the normal splash screen shows up
for a fraction of a second and then disappears. looking in
the talk manager reveals nothing matlab related in the
applications, processes, or services lists. any ideas?
thanks!

Exactly which processor are you using? Centrino?

Try creating an environment variable MATLAB_RESERVE_LO and set its value
to 0. This may help.

Good Luck, Jan

This seems to have worked. Thanks very much... I can't seem
to find much information on why this worked - what did this do?
best,
~k

Hi,

please search for MATLAB_RESERVE_LO at http://www.mathworks.com/support
, some more detail is given there. It has something to do with memory
reservation on startup.

That link you provided is not available. I found another one
that describes the same solution:
