I'm using GUI to manage with an application. This simple
application has two buttons; the first activates a while
loop changing the status of a serial port to obtain a
square wave, the second call a function that looks for the
HI_LO change state of the pin of the serial port to
execute. I tried to do this bus the program stops every
time i push the second button. I think this is a problem
about the contemporaneity of the execution. Is there a way
to execute different thread at the same time using one only
Matlab session?

1/ While with pause function
In the while loop, put pause function for .01 or .1 second.
while 1
. . . .
. . .
pause(0.1)
end
2/ Timer
using timer to perform your code with start and stop
function instead of while loop.
help timer
help start
help stop
