Thread Subject: Performance of R2008A

I found the nwest version of R2008A is quite slow when
doing file operations, such as open and close a file,
change current directory etc. Any of you have similar
experience or it is just my installation problem?

Curious to know which OS you are using, and are all these files/dir on the
local machine (or network mapped?)

Ashish:
Why? Is this version known to be slower on network drives than the
previous version was?

No, Not that I know of.

long explnation:

I have experienced sluggish response from MATLAB (among other programs)
when we changed some server/network drive arch.
I didnt have to *be* in the mapped drive, any kind of access needed
(path..) would slow down MATLAB.
I wiped the prefs and worked on local drives for a while to get around it..

Thanks for explanation. I have found a solution to avoid
the sluggish response: configure the Matlab icon to start
with -c option to specify the license file. Now, everything
is fine and runing smoothly.
