Thread Subject: 'fontname' property of a text object

By default, the 'fontname' property of a text object is
Helvetica.

What other fonts are available? I was surprised that matlab
does not complain if I specify ANY string as a font name:

set(text(.5,.5,'W'),'fontn','kkk')

And yes, the output is different from Helvetica, the shape
of the symbol is altered.

Which font gets picked in this situation?

The list of available fonts is system dependent (i.e.
dependent on what OS you are using and what fonts you have
installed).

Have a look at
>> doc listfonts
to obtain a list of the fonts available.

If I don't pick one of the available fonts then MATLAB uses
the default font (which is "MS Sans Serif" in my case).
