A publication I am working on requires that all figures be of a certain size
(say 8 cm wide). How do I specify this in my output ?

I have recently found a script named savefig.m on Matlab's central file
exchange. Very handy utility for producing eps files with tight bounding
boxes etc. but how does one specify the physical size of the image ?

Set the PaperPosition and PaperUnits property of the figure

My File Exchange fillPage submission helps set the
appropriate properties and allows you to specify the page
size to use (so you can tell it the size is what the
publication wants you to use). It's available from here:
