Hey,
I 've MATLAB_R2007a with an Imac, Intel Core 2 Duo and i 've the same
issue. I can't start Matlab. I removed the libtiff.3.7.1.dyib but
nothing changes. Only the X11 window appears.

bash-3.2$ pwd
/Applications/MATLAB74
bash-3.2$ ls
MATLAB 7.4 help patents.txt
X11 install_matlab sys
activation installerlog.plist toolbox
bin java trademarks.txt
etc jhelp update
extern license.txt work

bash-3.2$ cd /Applications/MATLAB74/bin/
bash-3.2$ ls
activate_matlab.sh maci scripts
ldd registry util
bash-3.2$ cd scripts/
bash-3.2$ ls
engopts.sh gccopts.sh matopts.sh mexext
optsetup.sh
f90opts.sh matlab mex mexopts.sh
bash-3.2$ ./matlab
/Applications/MATLAB74/bin/scripts/.matlab7rc.sh: line 199: /
Applications/MATLAB74/bin/bin/util/arch.sh: No such file or directory
bash-3.2$

I tryed to execute arch.sh cause it's exist but in the folder /
Applications/MATLAB74/bin/util/:

bash-3.2$ cd bin/util/
bash-3.2$ ls
arch.sh mex oscheck.sh
bash-3.2$ ./arch.sh
./arch.sh: line 154: check_archlist: command not found

To finish i tryed ti launch matlab to the bin/maci/ folder

bash-3.2$ ./MATLAB
dyld: Library not loaded: ../../../bin/maci/libmwlapack.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/MATLAB74/bin/maci/libmwnumerics.dylib
 Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap

Someone can help me please? It's very important for me
Thanks

Hi,

Your installation appears to be missing files, notably the matlab shell
script in bin (a superset of the files under bin/scripts should be in
the bin directory). Try re-installing.
