Thread Subject: Listeners and axes

I'm looking for a way to incorporate listeners in a GUI for
a variety of purposes. From reading the documentation for
R2008a, it seems listeners are only available to certain
classes.

Does anyone know a way to add a listener to a plot so that
it can notify when the data, x and y-limits, scale, etc change?

I don't have 2008a, but the old-school undocumented way is
something like:

h = gca;
h = handle(h);

%Listen for changes in x limits: use PropertyPostSet or
PropertyPreSet listeners
lst1 = handle.listener(h, findprop
(h, 'XLim'), 'PropertyPostSet', @myCallback)

%Listen for changes in children: use ObjectChildAdded or
ObjectChildDestroyed
lst2 = handle.listener(h, 'ObjectChildAdded', @myCallback)

%Store listeners
setappdata(h, 'MyListeners', {lst1, lst2})
