I am currently using the student version 7.4.0.287
(R2007a). This version does not have the curve fit
toolbox. Is there a free download or upgrade to this
toolbox? If so, where can I find it.

You are correct that Curve Fitting Toolbox, of which CFTOOL is a part, is
not included as part of Student Version. You can purchase this add-on
product from our Store using the link in the upper-right corner of most of
the pages on our website. For a list of other add-on products that you can
purchase for Student Version, look at this page:
