Hi all,

Anyone had any experience using matlab to read VTK file either in ASCII or binary? I have a VTK file generated from an ITK program, and would like to read it into Matlab for data processing. But I googled and did not find anything useful to read the binary VTK data file. Thanks very muh.

I'm also looking for this solution if it exists.

Hi,

I ended up modifying one matlab function I found online. Please google: "readVTK", and you will likely to find it in the 5th hit.

However, be cautious that the function writes array data in column major just as in Matlab. But if you import data from (or write data to) other software which is otherwise in row major, you need to switch the first 2 dimensions.

Good luck.

Sorry to resurrect old post. FYI:

A company called Kitware heads the development of VTK and Paraview.

Kitware recently announced the addition of a MATLAB-VTK interface..

Google for Kitware, and look at the October 2009 issue of 'Source', their quartely magazine (issue 11). It has an article/howto guide.

Kind regards

Tom Clark
