Interupt Method

Is there anyway to set the interrupt properties of a class method like there are for callback functions? I still don't completely understand callback functions, and I might be missing something key about their nature that allows you to do this for them. If so, how can I implement a class method as a callback function, making it interruptible. My interrupting action would be another class method (same class), run a response to an event listener.
