well, i hv my hp scanner connected to the usb port
I hv made a GUI. Now wen i click on the SCAN button in my GUI, i want the program to run the scanner and start scanning the image.

My device is not conected to serial port. It is connected usb port of my pc

Well my device is connected to usb hub and not to serial port

Go through the external interface documentation .You will get more information.

i have checked matlab help in detail... i vent found any method...

though devices are available for Serial to USB n vice versa conversion... but no direct method

Can you share a generic code of how your created your GUI?
 I need to turn a relay on and off via a USB port. Anyone know of a simple Matlab program to do this?
