Vanishing command history

Hi all,

A few times recently I have lost almost all of my command history, i.e. the command history window shows only a few hours worth of commands and the top line is:
%-- Unknown date --%

Does this mean the command history file been corrupted (or deleted)? Where is the file so I can check this out? Does anybody have any suggestions to stop this happening again?

Thanks, S

Hi Simon,

The file is history.m, in the directory returned when you enter "prefdir" in
MATLAB. You might want to check out the documentation on prefdir by entering
"doc prefdir" in MATLAB.

I can't answer your other questions because I don't work in that area, but
hopefully someone else can help with that.

HTH,
Amanda
