Hi All,

I have data of a deforming 3D object in time and I would like to somehow plot the strain field so I can visualisation the deformation through the steps. Would someone be able to advise on the best way of doing this.

Cheers,
Darren

Sounds kind of like the vector fields like they plot for optical
flow. Check out the file exchange for optical flow and you might find
something that helps.

I've done this by converting the strain tensor to engineering strain in 2-dimensional slice (compression and shear) and then just using contour plots of the engineering strain.

I'm working on a similar project and use the built in functions quiver/quiver3.
