latex axis tick labels

I am using:
set(0,'DefaultTextInterpreter','latex')

But no matter what I do, the axis labels are not being rendered with latex. I have a plot I want to go from -pi/2 to pi/2, and rather than displaying the decimal values, I want it to display $-\pi/2$, $-\pi/4$, ....

Setting the axes ticks with latex code does not see to work.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks,
~Luke

I'm afraid there is no built-in support for what you're after. Check out these two contributions which offer some solution to this problem.
