Dear all,

I have a rather general question. Does anyone know the term for a method, that allows me to find the parameters of a given number (n) of gaussian probability density functions g1(x) ... gn(x), that, added together (g1(x)+...+gn(x)=y), describe best a curve given by a set of x and y pairs.

Is there such a method? And if, does anyone know the respective functions in Matlab or on the FEX?

Thanks for your help on this perhaps fuzzy question.

Best,
Wolfgang
