Is there anyway to open a plot tool, at least the property editor, without docking the figure in the figure container? For editing a single figure this is hardly necessary, and it causes the figure to resize which is at best slightly annoying and at worst when the figure is full of stuff and your graphics card is not top of the line with lots of memmory is very annoying.
Sigh. I doubt this can be resolved without resorting to editing built in MATLAB functions with undocumented java calls, which I would be afraid to try. Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much,
-naor

I know this is allready an old post, but I would be interested in this to since the resizing is pretty annoying.

Personally I've found nothing better than commenting the following line (#127) in "showplottool.m":
set(fig, 'WindowStyle', 'docked');

In the newsgroup I didn't find anything really useful to avoid this annoying behaviour...anyone else with different (and likely much better and clean) ideas?

Bye,
Gabriele
