Is there something like \r in matlab?

say i want to make a textbased progressbar, and would like to write sometinhg like:

['progress: ' num2str(round(step/total*100)) '%%']

without writing a new line to the console every time.

Thank you - but there seems to be a problem.

apparently (and I don't know why) wdisp only works when you are running matlab with the gui. The reason I want a command line solution is (you guessed it) that I can't run matlab with the gui (inside screen).
