Subject: what is the differene between 'line' and 'lineseries'?

All I know is that if
h=plot(x,y)
hold
h2=line(x2,y2)
then one plot shows in the property browser as 'lineseries' while the second shows as 'line', with fewer properties shown, although
>> get([h h2],'type')

ans =

    'line'
    'line'

The documentation is somewhat vague on this. Can someone clarify?
Thanks,
