Hi,

I would like to make selections using ginput. However, the figure I would like to make these selections on is a video running in another program. Is it possible to create a transparent figure so that I can see this other program and select coordinates on its video?

Thanks!

How about using ginput, or something similar, to select coordinates in movies (such as those displayed with mplay)?

Thanks!

Does anyone think that there is a way to use ginput with videos played via mplay?

Hi Jessica,

Yes, there is a way:

>> set(0,'showHiddenHandles', 'on')
>> mplay vipmen.avi
>> ginput

Thanks-- this worked perfectly!

Also, is there a way to write into the script to advance one frame (I'm hoping to program it so that I can make a selection with ginput and then the video will automatically advance one frame so that I can then make another ginput selection on the next frame).

Jessica,

This isn't documented and be aware that it might change in future releases thus breaking any
scripts that you might write:

m=mplayfind;
if isempty(m), m=mplay; end

% to stop:
m(1).stop

% to step to next frame
m.DataSource.Controls.stepFwd % For workspace/file

Good luck,

Witek
