Hello,

I'm getting some weird out of memory errors. My 16 Gb Mac Pro will not utilize more than ~2Gb even though another ~13 Gb is free. Have you experienced a similar issue? Why won't Matlab use more available RAM?

Apparently, the function MEMORY is not available on the Mac platform. Anyone know how to see memory available for all arrays and maximum possible array on Mac? Anyone know how to obtain diagnostic info to post here?

Thanks in advance,
Kasper

It is normal as explained in this table:
Maximum Matrix Size by Platform
http://www.mathworks.com/support/tech-notes/1100/1110.html
Under MAC OS X running 32-bit MATLAB the largest matrix size is ~1532MB

Under mac, you may use the top command as memory tool...

Thank you Aurelien, very helpful.

So there is no built-in memory diagnostic function in Matlab on Mac?

In this tech note, tools for memory management for Macs are listed :
Can I access more than 2GB of memory when running a 32-bit MATLAB 7.5 (2007b) on a Mac ?
