I have installed matlab 7 (R14) on my machine running windows 2000. After installation everything worked fine. However, after I restarted the machine, the plot command does not bring up the plots. I am not getting any error messages on the command line (I know that the data is good). The demos are not working either. Basically, anything that pops up a gui or a new window does not work.

MATLAB itself is running fine, my codes run fine. The plots are simply not showing up.

I have tried updating/reinstalling JVM and uninstalling/reinstalling matlab itself. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a fix for this?

-thanks
sri

Are the figures existing? Please check:
  plot(1:10);
  disp(gcf);
  findfigs(gcf)
If GCF is not empty (the figure exists), please inspect it:
  get(gcf)
Especially the Visibility, Position, Units -- perhaps some factory settings have been changed in the startup file?!
Perhaps the monitor is switched off? Strange problems demand for strange solutions...

Good luck, Jan

Hi Jan,

I am facing a similar problem, only that the plot command is not showing any figures all of a sudden. It was working fine when I rebooted but has suddenly stopped working.

As you suggested in your previous post, I used disp(gcf) and get(gcf), the output of which is given below. So I gather the plots are there since disp(gcf) is not empty, but then how do I retrieve these plots??

>>disp(gcf)

>> get(gcf)

Hi aymer,

Please notice, that this thread is 4 years old now.

Do you really mean "figures" here or "axes"? Could you post the corresponding "plot" command? What exactly do you see on the screen and what do you expect?

Kind regards, Jan

Dear Jan,

The problem is solved...the plot command displays the plot whenever its executed..but it didn't in this particular case for some reason..I closed some background applications and it displayed the plot...sorry for re-posting in such an old thread and thank you for your response..

regards
