Hi there

I have data that has positions of galaxies in terms of right ascension and declination only. These coordinates are formatted as decimal degrees where 'ra' spans 0 to 360 degrees and 'dec' spans around -40 to +100 degrees.

What i would like to do is project each glaxay as a point on a spherical coordinate system such that they are all sitting on the surface of the sphere (since i am not concerned with distances at this point).

Is there a straight forward way to do this?

many thanks

Russ
