I'm just starting to use Simulink (ver 7.4 on R2009b) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

When I launch simulink and try to add blocks to a new model, I can't seem to drag them from the library into the model. I'm feeling very stupid here! Is there something that I missed? I've read the Simulink user's guide as well as the comp.soft-sys.matlab FAQ to no avail.

The only workaround I have managed to use is to right-click a block, then "Add to untitled".

If I use Cmd-I to do the same, "infinite" copies of the block sometimes appear in the model. For example, if I choose a Source->Chirp Signal, then hit Cmd-I, the block appears on the model window. If I then move that block someplace, the original stays in place. In fact I could drag Chirp Signal blocks forever from that original.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

I figure this out. If you are in the Simulink Library Browser, and you click on say the "Math Operations" group, it will open in the browser. If you try to drag from the browser to your model, it will not work. Instead, right-click on the library name "Math Operations", and then select "Open Math Operations Library". This will open a new window, and you will be able to drag objects from this window onto your model.

I do not know if the other versions support drag-drop direct from the library browser, but this workaround at least gets the job done and is a minor inconvenience.
