Thread Subject: geotiffread reads images flipped horizontally

I have multiple georeferenced tiff images that get created as a user interacts with GUI. I am using geotiffread to read this image. However, I find that sometimes this function reads the image flipped horizontally. Although, I can flip the image I am trying to find what causes it to read that way. If I can identify someway that the image has been flipped, I could automate the un-flipping. Any thoughts on this?
