Thanks a lot!
I read the documentation for serial communication(the xpc_target_I/O_reference Charpter 3)carefully.I made sure that I can use the serial communication block(the RS-232 Mainboard Setup\Send\Receive block). However,I found that there are some differences between the block in the documentation and the block in Matlab 2009b.

In Matlab 2009b,when double click the RS-232 Mainboard Setup\Send\Receive block, there is a short message in the Block Parameters dialog box,for exsample in the RS-232 Mainboard Send/Receive block's Parameters dialog box says that:
--------------------------------------------------
     Version 1.0 compatible Mainboard Send/Receive
      Backward compatible for old models
Not for use in new models
--------------------------------------------------
Is it means that the block can't be used in the Simulink now ?
or the old block in the demo xpcrs232v2.mdl can be used in Simulink now ?
thank you!!!
