Hello all

I have a question regarding the mathmatical expression
i have the case of two points moving to draw a curve like hyperpola ,however with small change in these two points , we got a curve like ellipse . How can I descripe this mathematically as equation.

Sorry not to describe the problem clearly.My language is not that good.
